1) Lecturer in Media Studies

The Media and Cultural Studies team wish to appoint a Lecturer in Media Studies in this dynamic and rapidly growing subject area based in the School of Arts and Cultures.

The subject area offer the following degree programmes: BA (Hons) Media, Communication and Cultural Studies, MA Media and Journalism, MA Media and Public Relations and MA International Multi-media Journalism. The team also supervises a growing cohort of PhD students.

You should have an established track record in research and teaching in the field of Media Studies. Applications from candidates with practical experience of working in the media sector will be particularly welcome. She/he will be expected to show evidence of existing research publications and a clear research trajectory that will contribute to a successful REF submission on Sub-panel 36: Communication, Cultural and Media Studies, Library and Information Management.

You will deliver modules on the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, contribute to the development of these programmes and supervise doctoral students.

You will further enhance the research and teaching profile of the group with expertise in any of areas of Media Studies, but particular interest in the following areas would be welcome: critical studies of the media; media/communication and television studies; media/television production; media ethics and legislation; critical engagement with and experience of media production and the media industries; audience studies; new media; cyber cultures; popular culture and advertising.

The Media and Cultural Studies team wish to appoint a Lecturer in Journalism and Public Relations in this dynamic and rapidly growing subject area based in the School of Arts and Cultures.

The subject area offer the following degree programmes: BA (Hons) Media, Communication and Cultural Studies, MA Media and Journalism, MA Media and Public Relations and MA International Multi-media Journalism. The team also supervises a number of PhD students.

You should have an established track record in research and teaching in the field of Journalism and Public Relations. She/he will be expected to show evidence of existing research publications and a clear research trajectory that will contribute to a successful REF submission on Sub-panel 36: Communication, Cultural and Media Studies, Library and Information Management.

In particular, in collaboration with the Head of Subject, you will co-ordinate the provision of Journalism and PR modules across all programmes.

You should have a background in or considerable experience of Journalism and Public Relations, and be familiar with the present day context of the industry, the changes and challenges confronting these professions. The Lecturer will further enhance the research and teaching profile of the group with expertise in any of the areas of Journalism, Media Law, Media Ethics, Journalism Studies and Public Relations.
